MY NEW NOVELLA - JUNGLE HORSES

I haven't posted here in a while, but that's mainly because I've been busy polishing up a novella that's going to be published soon.  It's a story called JUNGLE HORSES and it's going to be the first novella featured on Broken River Books online.  For those who don't know, Broken River Books is the publishing company started and run by fiction writer J. David Osborne (BY THE TIME WE LEAVE HERE, WE'LL BE FRIENDS; LOW DOWN DEATH RIGHT EASY; OUR BLOOD IN ITS BLIND CIRCUIT), and so far he's put out 11 crime works, mainly novels, all quite striking or imaginative in some way.  Jed Ayres' PECKERWOOD was published by him, as was the remarkable THE LEAST OF MY SCARS by Stephen Graham Jones, Steve Lowe's superb boxing novella THE FIX, and the terrific horror tinged noir THE FIRST ONE YOU EXPECT by Adam Cesare.  I really don't think there's been a weak title put out by Mr. Osborne yet, so I have to say I'm quite pleased that Broken River's publishing me.  JUNGLE HORSES will be an e-book, and as soon as it's available for purchase, which will be very soon, I'll be letting people know.

Oh yeah, what's it about?  Well, it has to do with a London guy named Arthur who gambles on horses and winds up in a lot of debt. He's in great physical danger, at risk of having his legs broken, until something happens to take him to a place far away where very different horses affect his life. There is an element of the fantastic in the story: Call it a kind of hallucinatory noir.

Here's a look at the cover:
